This is an interesting study by some MIT students. They are proposing using layers of class with coloured films to increase the efficiency of PV cells and allow them to be used as a frame around the edge of windows. More info here.

Here are some photos of me at the petting zoo about 27 years go. It looks like it hasn’t changed much. The pony riding ring was (I think) beside the mini-train and was not part of the petting zoo site.

Installed on the Xicui entertainment complex in Beijing [near the site of the 2008 Olympic Games], GreenPix is a sustainable LED media display applied to the glass curtain wall. with integrated photovoltaic cells. The largest color LED display in the world, GreenPix will also incorporate the photovoltaic system integrated into a glass curtain wall system in China. The intention is for the building to ‘mirror a day’s climatic cycle’, harvesting energy from the sun to power the LED display after dark.

Idette has kindly put me in contact with her friend Alex, who is working on growing Algae for bio fuel. He an I have been emailing about the idea of placing this system in a wall. He recently sent this link to a cool video of the MIT Algae Photobioreactor. Check it out! You can actually eat/drink the by-products, algae powder as an added health bonus. Hendrick and I are thinking about doing a juice bar!

Here is a link to the Animal Farm cartoon from 1954. It’s pretty good. The back story is interesting. How the CIA wrangled the film rights from George Orwell’s widow to spread anti communist propaganda.

Anyway, here is Orwelian proof that humans are nothing but animals. Pigs at least.

I found a great website (www.gaisma.com) it gives sun direction, number of daylight hours, etc. I find it easier to understand then other azimuths I have used.

I’ll attach the charts that are relevant to us, and look for the print out on the studio wall.
